Biorhythms Frequently Asked Questions
What are biorhythms?
Biorhythms are method of predicting the
cycles of an individual based on their birth date. There are three rhythms that are well documented: emotional, physical, and intellectual. According to the science of Biorhythms, each of these rhythms
goes through three different phases; high, low and critical.
What do the different
phases represent?
Different things to different people. If the physical rhythm is in a high phase, for
instance, you might experience more physical ability then if that rhythm was in a low phase. An emotionally low rhythm might be categorized as a sleepy or even irritable emotional state, likewise, in
an emotional high there could be an improved sense of well-being. Intellectually, a high might explain the ability have more focus or mental clarity. In an intellectual low there could be more mental
fuzz.
What is the critical phase?
The critical phase is the short period (usually one-two days depending on the rhythm) when a rhythm is crossing over to a
different phase. During this short time, there is a greater risk of error or accident. In fact, studies have show then there is a 30-60% greater risk of an accident during those few critical
days that a person experiences every month. It can pay to be more cautious on these days.
Are their additional biorhythms that can be plotted?
Yes. In fact, many people have "found" additional rhythms and have included them in programs and charts.
If
there
are
so
many
additional
biorhythms
which
ones
are
valid?
Realize that these additional biorhythms are not necessarily invalid, but they have no scientific evidence to back them up like the three original biorhythms
(emotional, intellectual, and physical) have.
What are the origins of biorhythms?
Biorhythms were discovered by two different scientists (not working together) at the same time about a hundred years ago. For more information, read about the
History of Biorhythms.
What is biorhythm compatibility?
Because biorhythms
are based on cycles that begin at birth, two individuals biorhythms' can be tested for compatibility. Biorhythm compatibility is different then plotting an individual's biorhythm because the
compatibility between two people remains consistent throughout their lives. For more information, go the
Biorhythm Compatibility page.
Are there any good books on
biorhythms?
Yes, in fact one excellent book is Biorhythms: A Personal Science by Bernard
Gittelson (ISBN: 0-446-60426-7). It explains history and gives a examples of how predictions based on biorhythms have worked in the past.
I find it hard to believe, are biorhythms for real?
That
is for the you to decide. But, if you take nature as an example, there are four cycles: spring, summer, fall, and winter. Then the process begins again. Life is filled with cycles and patterns, why not
personal cycles and patterns?
